UNIVERSITY OF PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND

Located in Canada’s smallest province, UPEI is the sole university on Prince Edward Island. With four faculties — Arts, Science, Education, and Veterinary Medicine — and separate Business and Nursing schools, the institution has a comprehensive approach to undergraduate education. While primarily an undergraduate institution, graduate programs are also well-developed and funded. UPEI is becoming increasingly well-known for many successful efforts at internationalization. Currently, it can boast more than 60 exchange programs in 25 countries. The international student population makes up roughly 15 percent of the student population, and international student services are supportive. To make sure everyone is on the same page, all first-year students must take three mandatory courses in writing, global studies, and university studies. Sports are also taken seriously here. The campus has invested substantially in many athletic amenities, including two hockey rinks and two 25-metre swimming pools.
